Xishuangbanna

Located in the southwest of Yunnan Province, Xishuangbanna is an autonomous prefecture inhabited by the Dai ethnic group. Xishuangbanna boasts mysterious rainforest, rare plants, wild animals, tropical fruits and also ancient customs. Between April 13 and 15 each year, the Water-Splashing Festival, New Year's Day of the Dai ethnic minority, is celebrated in Xishuangbanna. During that time, many kinds of interesting activities are held, including dragon boat racing, launching of Kongming Lanterns, and throwing love pouches. Thousands of travelers come each year to experience the region's unique culture and local customs.
