Nanjing Azalea Festival

Close to the city center, Xuanwu Lake Park is the largest and the most famous park in Nanjing. Covering an area of 472 hectares, the park itself is based on the islands in the middle of the lake. There are five isles in the lake: Huan Isle, Yingzhou Isle, Liangzhou Isle, Cuizhou Isle and Lingzhou Isle, which are linked with each other and with the bank by different bridges. From April 18 to May 5, the 9th Nanjing Azalea Festival is held in Xuanwu Lake Park. At that time, more than 100,000 azalea trees of various species will be presented in the park. Besides enjoying flowers, visitors also can walk, jog, ride bicycles, and enjoy the springtime scenery in the park.
