Sichuan’s tourism revenue rose by 20 percent year on year to 236.6 billion yuan in the first quarter, fulfilling 27.5 percent of the 2007 goal, it was revealed at the meeting for analyzing the development of the tourism industry.

209 million Chinese tourists, eight percent more year on year, visited Sichuan in the first quarter, generating 234.99 billion yuan in tourism revenue, up 20 percent from 2016. 571,000 foreigners travelled to Sichuan in the first three months, up 7.7 percent year on year and generating 247 million US dollars in tourism revenue.

The province will continue the construction of 28 demonstration areas for region-based tourism and proceed with its 46 key tourism programs. It will create five camp sites for self-driving tours and strive to increase its AAAAA- and AAAA-level scenic areas by three and thirty respectively.

It will also ensure the third China (Sichuan) International Tourism Investment Conference is a success.
