According to Leshan Municipal Commission of Tourism Development, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the Pacific Area Travel Association are going to help Leshan to plan the development of the region's mountain tourism for the next five years.

In recent years, Leshan City has kept close cooperation with PATA. In 2014 and 2015, Leshan and PATA successfully undertook two rounds of Emei Global Summit. Currently, one top priority of Leshan City is to further promote its tourism industry and make Leshan an international tourism site. Therefore, experts from UNWTO, PATA and domestic tourism agencies are invited to the city and draft the development strategy based on Leshan's characteristics and the poverty relief projects. It is expected that each county of Leshan City will develop its unique tourist product in five years.
