Ningxia began construction on 29 new energy projects with 14 billion yuan (US$2.14 billion) in investment. It is expected to boost the development of the new energy industry in the region.

The region's existing and in-construction wind power projects and photovoltaic power projects have an capacity of 4.7 million kilowatts and 1.12 million kilowatts respectively.

The annual output of wind power projects built and put into the grid has reached 770,000 kilowatts and will increase to 1.11 million kilowatts by the end of this year. Photovoltaic power projects in the grid churn out 90,300 kilowatts of energy and will rise to 110,000 kilowatts by the end of this year.
