Temples are one of the most important and buildings in Taiwan. As local citizens have a belief in God, the incense in temples is strong and pilgrims come one after the other. People worship a variety of Gods they worships such as Guanyin Bodhisattva, the Goddess of the Sea, the Goddess of childbearing, the God of War and even Confucius the Sage. To pray for blessings on Chinese New Year holiday is also a tradition on the island. From the eve of the Spring Festival, the temples in Taiwan welcome many pilgrims, who burn incense and pray.

Nantiangong Ma Tsu Temple, Yilan county

Located in Yilan county in northeastern Taiwan, Nantiangong Ma Tsu Temple is the busiest center of public worship along the eastern line of the island. It was enlarged in 1990. A golden statue of Ma Tsu and five statues of Meizhou Ma Tsu were invited at the same time, and since then, lines of people from nearby towns, at home and abroad keep going there for prayer.

Tips: Around the Spring Festival, Nantiangong Ma Tsu Temple will certainly become a hotspot for spirituality.
