East China: 46 companies in Zhejiang, 56 in Shandong, 34 in Guangdong, 49 in Jiangsu, 15 in Hebei, 98 in Beijing, 22 in Tianjin, 26 in Shanghai and 8 in Fujian. All together, 354 companies from the region's nine provinces and municipalities are listed, with six more compared to the previous year. They account for 70.8 percent of the Top 500 Companies of China in 2010.

Central China: 10 in Chongqing, 10 in Sichuan, 9 in Yunnan, 9 in Shaanxi, 4 in Guangxi, 6 in Inner Mongolia, 2 in Guizhou, 3 in Gansu, 3 in Xinjiang, 1 in Qinghai and 1 in Hainan. All together, 58 companies from the eleven provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities are listed, with three less than the previous year. They account for 11.6 percent of the Top 500 Companies of China in 2010.

Northeast China: 18 in Liaoning, 5 in Jilin and 6 in Heilongjiang. All together, 29 companies from the three provinces are listed, with three more than the previous year. They account for 5.8 percent of the Top 500 Companies of China in 2010.

As for the geological distribution of the Top 500 Companies of China in 2010, a large gap still exists. Beijing, as the capital and political & economic center of China, carries notable economic importance. The 98 companies based in Beijing account for 19.6 percent of the Top 500 Companies of China in 2010. On the whole, the economic development and market growth in Eastern China is far ahead of inland areas. Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Guangdong can rely on the competitive manufacturing industry in the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta regions. Shandong, Shanghai and Tianjin are all coastal provinces and municipalities. Hence, they breed more companies on the Top 500 list than other inland provinces. As for central and northeast China, since there are less preferential policies for resource-oriented companies, they have thus bred fewer companies on the Top 500 list.
