Xinjiang nut cake, known locally as "qiegao," is a ubiquitous snack with a long history in Xinjiang. It incorporates a variety of nuts, kept together by honey. 

Nuts are rich in nutrients and easy to preserve, which made them a basic necessity for merchants travelling along the ancient Silk Road.
