In December 2020, nearly 300 practitioners in film and television from filmmakers, producers to screen writers issued a joint open letter including several proposals that called on media platforms to take a stand against plagiarism, which at the time had drawn widespread public concern. At the end of December 2020, writer-and-director Guo Jingming and TV director Yu Zheng made public apologies to Zhuang Yu and Chiung Yao for previous examples of plagiarism that they were involved in years ago.
