Hu Wugong began his career as a photographer in 1969. He is a professor at Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology and president of Shanxi Photographers Association. Hu's photo "When Flood Hit" was awarded "best news photo" in China. He has held a series of photography exhibitions all over China and was named "outstanding contributor" by China Photographers Association in 2006.

 

"Wheat Harvester" depicts the destitute and homeless lives of migrant wheat harvesters in northwest China. Hu Wugong possesses a strong passion for peasants living in the central Shanxi plain. Though he cannot change the peasants' living conditions, he undertakes a social responsibility to show their lives through his work. When standing with the "harvesters" side-by-side, Hu said he felt a true confidence and inner peace. (Curator: Liu Shuyong)
