Bao Naiyong, a Mongolian, was born in Beijing in 1938. He is vice chairperson of China Photography Artist Association and chairperson of Australian Ordos Foundation. Bao's career as a photographer began in 1972. He documented the April Fifth Movement in its entirety at the risk of being arrested. His photos were used by both domestic and international media, such as the New York Times, Times, and World.

 

Bao Naiyong's "April Fifth Movement" documents the 1976 event in Tiananmen Square through still snapshots. Bao witnessed millions of people participate in the April Fifth Movement and his photos not only depict the grandeur of the event, but also the minute details, giving the project a sense of inner strength.
