Li Lin was born in rural Shandong in 1974. He was in the army and also worked in an oil field in the 1990s. Li participated in the exhibition "Reality and Beyond Reality" at the Pingyao International Photography Festival in 2007 and has held an individual exhibition "Disappearing Scenery" in a 798 photo gallery.

 

 

People may relate Li Lin's pictures to the academic term "Neue Sachlichkeit" (new objectivism) because of his detached view and addiction to details. Li is expert at discovering and gathering absurdities in daily life which are ignored by most people. When these scenes are put together by the dozen, they raise big and shocking questions for people to answer: is this really what we do everyday? Is it what a human being wants to do?
