The Beijing Hotel is building a US$9,000-a-night suite fit for an emperor, incorporating the architectural style of the Forbidden City.
The suite is US$1,000 pricier than the hotel's current most expensive French-style presidential suite, the Beijing Morning Post reported yesterday.
Covering nearly 500 square kilometers, the imperial suite is located in the western part of the 17th floor of the hotel's east building.
The rooms are named after those in the Forbidden City, where Chinese emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911) lived.
The newspaper said that construction will soon be finished on the costly suite, which will only be open to VIPs.
