6, Madonna's divorce
Pop star Madonna has put an end to her 8-year marriage with British director Guy Ritchie. They announced their split in October after months of tabloid speculation. They were granted a preliminary divorce on November 21. Their December divorce settlement of at least US$76 million set a new record. The couple has two children, Rocco, 8, and 3 year-old David Banda who was adopted from Malawi in 2006. With custody arrangements yet to be settled, their split is expected to be finalized in January 2009.
