Insurance: 12.1 million and 12.8 million people

In 2012, the number of residents who participated in the basic pension insurance, basic medical insurance, unemployment insurance and work injury insurance totaled 12.1 million, 12.8 million, 10.1 million and 9 million, respectively, up by 1.2 million, 917,000, 1.3 million and 347,000 over 2011. The number of urban and rural poor residents who enjoyed special subsidies reached 110,000 and 63,000, respectively. Beijing's seniors' monthly pensions surged from 2,513 to 2,773 this year, the highest recorded growth rate.
