Rescuers retrieved the bodies of two workers buried in the debris after part of a subway station under construction collapsed in Beijing Wednesday.

Eight workers were slightly injured in the accident and have been taken to hospital.

The steel supporting structure and part of the tunnel of Shunyi Station of the M15 subway line collapsed at about 4:30 p.m., burying two workers and showering eight othes with steel, and rocks and dirt, Li Li, a publicity officer of Shunyi District government told Xinhua..

Rescuers are trying to reinforce the tunnel to prevent futher collapse.

Beijing authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.

Line M15 will take a west-east orientation and run about 45 km, of which 32 km will be below ground.

There will be 21 stops along the route, which will run between Xiyuan in Haidian District and east of the Chaobai River in Shunyi.
