Danish firm Danfoss supports Baoding's low-carbon efforts

Danfoss Group and the City of Baoding signed an MOU today, based on which Danfoss and Baoding will jointly carry out energy-efficient heating project in Baoding during 2011-2012.
According to the MOU, Danfoss and the City of Baoding will conduct cooperation on pilot heating projects covering public buildings, residential buildings and other district heating needs. They will serve as the basis for further extension of Danfoss solution in other and more buildings. The two parties will also co-launch heat metering pilot projects to ensure that end users can control heat consumption by themselves. Besides, two parties are open to more possibilities of low-carbon cooperation between them.
"Baoding as a national low-carbon pilot city will develop pilot project on a full scale and carry out ‘district heating construction projects; in major parts of the city with centralized, high energy efficiency of heating network and advanced district heating technology to replace legacy inefficient and decentralized heating system, in order to improve energy efficiency constantly. Meanwhile, the city has been conducting a retrofit program on existing buildings in the city in order to improve energy utilization. Such programs and activities provide tremendous opportunities for the cooperation between the City of Baoding and Danfoss," said Ma Yufeng, executive vice mayor of Baoding.

We will leverage our 70-year experience in the heating industry and use modern, high efficiency heating technology to help Baoding cut carbon emission," said Danfoss District Energy President Lars Tveen.
Baoding, known as the Green Power Valley in China, was selected as a pilot city of "China Low-Carbon City Development Program" by World Wild Life (WWF) in 2008, and as one of the eight low-carbon pilot cities by China's National Development and Reform Committee (NDRC) in August 2010.
City of Baoding and City of Sonderborg, where Danfoss is headquartered, have established close cooperation in low-carbon economy and built partnership in energy-saving and emission-reduction. Danfoss has been providing full support both financially and technologically on Sonderborg Zero Carbon Projects in Denmark, and assisted the City of Boarding to establish a full-blown long term cooperative relationship with Sonderborg. Danfoss is a major leading supplier of the heating system in Sonderborg where it is based in. In the 78 years since it was established from its humble beginning as a family owned workshop, Danfoss has grown into a leading multinational company in the climate and energy industry. Danfoss has done a great deal of work building connections between Baoding and Sonderborg, facilitating the export of advanced technologies of Baoding in new energy to Europe and fostering Baoding's position as a center of low-carbon economy in China and the world.
