4. 'Guessing lantern riddles'
During the Lantern Festival, activity organizers or lantern owners write riddles on pieces of paper and post them on the lanterns, inviting people to solve them. If participants figure out the answer, they can pull off the paper and go to the organizers or lantern owners to check their answers. If they are right, they will then receive a little gift. Emerging in the Song Dynasty (960-1279), riddle guessing is still popular among Chinese people today.
