China Daily:
I would like to ask Mr. Xu a question. You just provided a detailed introduction of the activities organized by overseas Chinese in Spain to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. This year also marks the 80th anniversary of Taiwan's restoration to China from Japanese occupation. Could you briefly introduce the related activities organized by overseas Chinese communities? Thank you.
Xu Songhua:
Thank you for your question. As I mentioned earlier, during the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, overseas Chinese have also been paying attention to the unification of their motherland and have carried out commemorative activities in different forms. On July 9 this year, an event was held in Serbia brought together more than 400 people from 60 countries, along with 20,000 compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The consensus was a strong call for China's peaceful and swift reunification and a firm opposition to all separatist activities by "Taiwan independence" forces. We say that the well-being of overseas Chinese communities is closely connected to the motherland. Why do we overseas Chinese support our motherland during difficult times? Why did we spare no effort and fear no sacrifice to support the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression? Because our survival and development abroad are directly tied to the strength of our motherland. When our motherland becomes strong, we stand taller, feel more confident and become more united. Overseas activities of this kind are driven by our heartfelt emotions, and we must use these events to awaken the memories of the past for our community and to ensure that the next generation learns to remember history, honor fallen heroes, cherish peace, and create a better future. This is our shared aspiration. Thank you.
