PC giant Dell launched its new global operations site in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, on Thursday.

In December 2012, pharmaceutical company Roche Holding AG unveiled its regional headquarters: West China Management Center in Chengdu, its first full-function regional headquarters, to boost its presence and sales in the west.

Large talent pool fuels drive to prosperity

In 2012, Chengdu rolled out a massive program to attract talent such as technicians and entrepreneurs. The top award it offered was 5 million yuan($810,000).
