China’s first Vanadium and Titanium Industry Expo was held in Panzhihua, Sichuan from Nov. 28 to Nov. 30, according to Sichuan Daily. The expo, which was organized around the themed of “innovation and transformation,” attracted attention from more than 1000 enterprises as over 2000 visitors from China and abroad flocked to Panzhihua for the event.

Vanadium and Titanium Industry Expo 2014 was focused on the use of and prospects for the development of vanadium and titanium, showcasing the latest products and technologies involving the two metals. Exhibitions detailed the entire industrial production chain associated with vanadium and titanium, which play an important role in the metal and steel indusrty, the chemical industry, and aeronautics and astronautics. Displays of consumer products featuring vanadium and titanium, including badminton rackets, golf clubs and glass frames, encouraged the use of these metals in everyday life.

Panzhihua, located in southwestern Sichuan province, was named “The City of Vanadium & Titanium” by the China Mining Association due to its rich deposits of the two metals. The area has 93 percent of China’s deposits of titanium and 63 percent of the country’s vanadium, ranking first and third place in the world, respectively, in terms of volume. Faced with the challenges of updating its industrial system, China has attached great importance to the sustainable development of vanadium and titanium. It is believed that the two resources will not only make significant contributions to China’s industry and national defense, but will also create a higher-quality life for the Chinese people.
