Japan's former Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda gave humble apologies Wednesday in China to countries affected by the radiation leak from the Fukushima's nuclear plant struck by the devastating earthquakes and tsunami on March 11.

Fukuda made the apology in Hainan, where he was attending the Boao Forum for Asia Board of Directors meetings.

"In my views, the nuclear radiation leakage won't be solved in the short term," Fukuda told the participants at the meeting, which included China's Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan.

He also thanked the imminent relief aid Japan received from China and other countries.
