The South Korean sniffer dog who has helped many during China's Wenchuan earthquake in 2008 has been sent to the quake-hit Haiti region with the country's emergency rescue team, local media reported Friday.

The rescue dog, Baekdu, has flown to Haiti Friday morning with the South Korean national 119 rescue services that were being sent as part of the country's recovery aid efforts in Haiti.

The German shepherd-breed sniffer that has also helped uncover six bodies at the devastating earthquake in Wenchuan in 2008, will enhance rescue efforts in Haiti for 10 days, the report added.

South Korea earlier said it will send to Haiti humanitarian assistance worth one million U.S. dollars including emergency supplies and relief workers.
