DAMASCUS, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Three unidentified projectiles landed near the Mezzeh Military Airport west of the Syrian capital Damascus Tuesday evening, without causing casualties or material damage, the state-run news agency SANA reported.
Specialized security units have been deployed in the area and opened an investigation to determine the origin of the projectiles, SANA quoted a source as saying.
Separately, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based war monitor, reported that explosions were heard after shells fell near the airport, but said there was no immediate confirmation of casualties or the nature of the attack.
Authorities have cordoned off the area as investigations continue. No group has claimed responsibility for the shelling. Enditem
