HANOI, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam will launch a nationwide campaign to crack down on smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods from Dec. 16, 2025 to March 15, 2026, Vietnam News Agency reported Tuesday.

The campaign will intensify inspections and control along land, rail, inland waterway, maritime and aviation border routes and checkpoints, as well as goods gathering areas near borderlines and cyberspace.

Priority will be given to preventing the circulation of prohibited goods, such as narcotics, weapons, firecrackers, e-cigarettes, endangered and rare wild fauna and flora. Inspections will also target counterfeit goods, including pharmaceuticals, food, dietary supplements, cosmetics and traditional medicine ingredients.

Hoang Thanh Tung, chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Legal and Judicial Affairs, said Tuesday that the production and trading of counterfeit goods rose by over 47 percent in 2025 compared to the previous year, Voice of Vietnam reported.

Many new tricks used by economic crime, fraud and smuggling offenders have also been uncovered, he said. Enditem
