ISTANBUL, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Turkish authorities seized 207 kg of methamphetamine and arrested two suspects here Tuesday in one of the country's largest drug hauls in recent years, officials said.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on social media X that the operation targeted suspects involved in drug trafficking in the Esenyurt district on the European side of the city.
Besides the methamphetamine, police also seized 98 kg of chemical substances in the raid, Yerlikaya said, highlighting the scale of the operation against organized narcotics networks.
A video shared by Yerlikaya showed special forces raiding a home in a building, discovering the chemical substances stored in containers, along with other devices and materials commonly used in drug production.
The authorities have been stepping up efforts against drug trafficking for years, with a series of coordinated raids made on organized crime networks. Enditem
