JAKARTA, July 2 (Xinhua) -- A Google Indonesia executive was present at the Attorney General's Office (AGO) in South Jakarta on Wednesday in connection with a corruption investigation into the procurement of Chromebook laptops by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology from 2019 to 2022.
The executive, Ganis Samoedra, is the strategic partner manager for Chrome OS Indonesia. "Ganis has appeared to provide information to investigators," Harli Siregar, spokesperson for the AGO, told reporters.
According to the AGO, the questioning was conducted to obtain information about the selection process of Chrome OS-based laptops, following suspicions that certain parties had directed the technical team to favor this operating system.
The procurement was valued at 9.98 trillion rupiahs, consisting of 3.58 trillion rupiahs from education unit funds and around 6.4 trillion rupiahs from special allocation funds. (1 U.S. dollar equals about 16,215 rupiah) Enditem
