TUNIS, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian customs has seized nearly 43 kilograms of cocaine during an intelligence-led operation in the coastal province of Sfax, the General Directorate of Customs announced on Tuesday.
The operation, part of nationwide efforts to combat drug trafficking, was conducted during a highway patrol and surveillance mission in Sfax.
According to the statement posted on the Directorate's Facebook page, authorities discovered 42,929 grams of cocaine, including packaging, hidden inside a truck. The confiscated drugs are estimated to be worth over 12.8 million Tunisian dinars (about 4.44 million U.S. dollars).
The case has been referred to relevant security services for further investigation.
The statement did not specify the timing of the operation or reveal the identity of the suspects. Enditem
