Indonesia's oil and gas upstream regulator (SKK Migas) is seeking to find buyers for some of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) produced from Badak gas refinery in Bontang of East Kalimantan, an official said here Thursday.

The amount of the LNG offered was 0.3 mmbtu (million metric British thermal unit) or 5 cargoes per annum, said Johanes Widjonarko, acting chairman of SKK Migas.

Widjonarko said,"there are 5 cargoes (of LNG) which have no buyer yet. Previously there were 18 cargoes."

The acting chairman said the LNG, which has not been absorbed at home, must be marketed; otherwise it will disturb production at gas wells.

He said at present all Indonesian domestic gas demand has been fulfilled " as we put a priority on it."

According to Widjonarko, Indonesia's LNG price now reached over 13 U.S. dollars per mmbtu.

Indonesia ranks fifth among world's LNG sellers.

Indonesian energy and mine ministry data show the country's proven gas reserve stand at 104.71 tcf.

Last month, Indonesian government and buyer from Fujian, China agreed to raise the price of LNG from Tangguh gas field in Papua in the eastern part of Indonesia. Endi
