Restructuring of Madagascar's electoral court is recommended by the international community, a statement of the international contact group (GIC) said here Monday.

"The International contact group urges the Malagasy stakeholders to reconstruct and restructure the special electoral court (CES) to restore the credibility of this and ensure its independence and integrity, in accordance with the letter and the spirit of the Roadmap," the statement of GIC meeting said.

"The Group deeply deplored the political decision of the CES in Madagascar, which violates the Malagasy national laws enabling illegal nominations of the ex-first lady Lalao Ravalomanana, the former president Didier Ratsiraka and Andry Rajoelina, President of Transition, and those of other political actors whose applications to the next presidential election are not in conformity with the law and the relevant provisions of the Roadmap, " the resolution said.

The GIC added hat the entire international community will not recognize the result of election if these authorities are elected. The group urges the entire international community to exert political and diplomatic pressure on illegal presidential candidates for their withdrawal.

It recommends international partners of Madagascar, which have made contributions or pledges to the electoral process, take necessary arrangements to temporarily freeze such support to electoral process until removal of all illegal candidates.

France has already imposed sanctions on the three controversial candidates, banning visa to them and their family, with the backing of the southern African bloc SADC and the African Union.

A member of parliament Anthelme Raparany told Xinhua that other candidates concerned by the GIC decision including Kolo Christophe Roland Roger, Rafalimanana Ny Rado and Rasolovoahangy Roseline Emma, did not live here six months before their application to the presidential race.

According to the list issued by the CES, 41 candidates will run in the future presidential race. However the number of candidates should go down with the recommendation of international community. The election initially set for July 24 was postponed to a date to be discussed by the independent national election commission (CENIT) and UN experts. Endi
