Iran said in a statement issued here on Tuesday that the Iran's experts and the P5+1 group reviewed proposals by both sides in their latest meeting in the Turkish city of Istanbul, Press TV reported.

In the statement, Iran's Supreme National Security Council said the Iranian and the P5+1 experts discussed various aspects of proposals, adding that the discussions revolved around proposals presented by Iran during the meeting in Moscow in June 2012, and offers given by the P5+1 during the negotiations held in the Kazakh city of Almaty on February 26-27, according to Press TV.

The results, achieved in the Istanbul meeting on Monday, will be presented at the next round of talks in Almaty on April 5-6, said the statement without further elaboration.

According to media reports, the closed-door meeting was set to discuss proposals in detail, entailing modest relief of sanctions imposed on the Islamic republic in return for Iran to "suspend" some aspects of its nuclear activities. The meeting also discussed the agenda for another round of talks to be held in Almaty on April 5-6.

On Tuesday, an European Union statement by Michael Mann, spokesman for EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, said that in Istanbul talks, the P5+1 experts provided Iran with further details of the "revised confidence-building proposal," Western media said.

Mann was quoted as saying that "the meeting also provided an opportunity for both (the P5+1 ) and Iranian experts to explore each other's positions on a number of technical subjects."

Following the February nuclear talks between Iran and the P5+1 group, both sides expressed optimism about the outcome of the talks and agreed to attend an expert-level talks on March 18 in Istanbul and talks once more in Almaty on April 5-6. Endi
