India has installed digital cameras along its border with Nepal in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, sources said Tuesday.

"At least three Internet Protocol cameras have been installed along the border by Seema Shashatra Bal to keep tab on fake Indian currency notes being smuggled by Pakistani terrorists into India. The cameras provide real time images to the border guards headquaters in the Indian capital," the sources said.

The border guards constantly monitor the images at the headquarters and report to those in the frontline in case they observe any suspicious activities along the porous border, they said, adding that the cameras have been installed after consultation with Nepal.

The ultimate aim is to stop smuggling of fake currency notes which are often in circulation in this country, the sources added.

India shares its border with Nepal to the east and north with three Indian states. Fake currency notes of 500 Indian rupees (10 U.S. dollars) and 1,000 Indian rupees (20 U.S. dollars) denomination are often being smuggled from across the border into this country by Pakistani terrorists, according to Indian intelligence agencies.
