Iranian lawmaker cautions citizens over travel to Syria

TEHRAN, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- A senior Iranian lawmaker asked the Iranians to refrain from travelling to Syria individually and use Iran's authorized tours, Press TV reported on Sunday.

The move came following 48 Iranian pilgrims were abducted by the militants on their way to Damascus airport on Saturday.

"These abducted pilgrims travelled to Syria on personal and non- official trips, and were not on Iran's formal caravans," Kazem Jalali, the member of Iran's Majlis (parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Commission was quote as saying on Sunday. Enditem
