Deeper exchanges called to promote Sino-Indian ties

China and India plan to conduct deeper exchanges more frequently in hopes of promoting understanding and a win-win relationship, said Sun Weidong, deputy director of the Asia Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the sidelines of the China-India Development Forum in Beijing Tuesday.

China and India both boast a profound culture and the two economies have been experiencing fast economic development in recent years. Sun said it's natural for some frictions to occur in bilateral trade. "The governments and enterprises of the two countries can work harder and closer to create more trade opportunities to address the problems," he said.
Currently, the two governments hold regular ministerial meetings to exchange views on trade and other issues.
The year 2010 marks the 60th anniversary of China-India diplomatic relations. The China-India Development Forum was held in honor of the anniversary and aims to further develop bilateral ties.
"The forum will play a key role in helping the two emerging markets deepen mutual understanding," Sun said.
