Officials on the remote Indian islands of Andaman in southeastern Bay of Bengal are sceptical about resuming search for a missing Malsysian jetliner by Indian military and Coast Guard, three days after the search in the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal was called off at the request of Malaysia.

A local government press official told Xinhua Tuesday that he does not believe the Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 could have entered the Bay of Bengal through Andaman Islands undetected by the Indian military or someone else.

"Although the Andaman Islands consists of many islands, it is highly unlikely that the plane entered or crashed in Andaman Sea or Bay of Bengal and no body knows," he said on condition of anonymity.

All the coast guard ships have returned to Port Blair and other ports of the Andaman and Nicobar islands while the navy ships remained off Kamorta islands, he said.

"The search is completely called off," said the official who has been in touch with Andaman and Nicobar Command of the Indian Navy.

The Indian warships and aircraft conducted only surface search in a way that they don't have to go again to the areas for search. They were looking for debris and did not use eqipments for underwater search as it is a vast area and that needs specific locations, said Port Blair-based daily Andaman Sheekha.?
