Death toll from Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines rose to 3,637, after the strongest storm this year ravaged the central part the country on Nov. 8, a senior government official said on Saturday evening.

Eduardo del Rosario, executive director of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), said in the latest disaster report that the number of injured people also increased to 12,501, while 1,186 others were still missing.

According to the report, of 9.8 million people who were affected, over 3 million were displaced and being served inside and outside over 1,000 evacuation centers.

The estimated damage soared to over 10.34 billion pesos (237.44 million U.S. dollars) with 1.25 billion pesos (28.71 million dollars) from infrastructure and 9.09 billion pesos (208.73 million dollars) from agriculture in seven typhoon-devastated regions, said the report.

The government's relief assistance has reached 91.96 million pesos (2.11 million dollars), it added.
