Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Thursday called on East Asian countries to deepen security mutual trust to safeguard regional peace and stability.

Li made the remarks while addressing?the East Asia summit held in Bandar Seri Begawan.

"Without peace and stability, any development is out of the question," he said.

China hopes to promote a new security concept that features comprehensive security, common security and cooperative security, and push forward candid dialogue and cooperation in the fields of traditional and non-traditional security,?Li said.

Li said every member country of the East Asia summit is responsible for regional security and stability, hoping that peace will last in East Asia and bring stability and tranquility to the region.

Li arrived in Bandar Seri Begawan on Wednesday to attend a series of East Asian leaders' meetings and to pay a state visit to Brunei. The trip will also take him to Thailand and Vietnam.
