French parliament will convened an emergency conference next Wednesday to discuss crisis in Syria, said French Minister Alain Vidal on Wednesday.

"There will be a special debate in the National Assembly and in the Senate," said Vidal, minister in charge of relations between the government and parliament in his talks on the French television i-TELE.

He noted that the parliament conference was announced by French President Francois Hollande at the cabinet session in the morning.

"In addition, Foreign Minister and Defense Minister will be heard by commissions this week at the National Assembly," the French minister added.

For her part, French government spokeswomen, Najat Belkacem-Vallaud, also confirmed that Hollande has decided to "summon parliament on Wednesday to assess the situation in Syria."

The decision for parliament to convene an emergency conference comes after Hollande expressed on Tuesday France's concern on the situation in Syria. The French president said his country stood "ready to punish" those responsible for the alleged chemical attack in Syria and would increase its military support to the Syrian opposition.

After attending the Defense Council meeting on Syrian issues on Wednesday, Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said the French government would continue to closely monitor the situation in Syria.?
