Russia sees the UN Security Council's draft resolution on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea as balanced and reflecting Moscow's concerns, the Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.

"The collectively drafted text takes into account Russian concerns and looks quite balanced," ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich told reporters.

Moscow hopes that the document would reflect international concerns over Pyongyang's nuclear missile program, he said, adding that any sanctions should be proportionate to the danger the DPRK's actions bear.

"We warn that any sanctions, any tough measures against Pyongyang, must be limited exclusively to the nuclear-missile sphere, not to exceed it, not to push Pyongyang into economic blockade," he said, adding that the main task now is to resume six-party talks.

According to the diplomat, the resolution could be adopted Thursday.

Last month, the DPRK conducted its third nuclear test, drawing condemnation from the international community.
