David Cameron has become the first serving British Prime Minister to pay respect at the scene of one of the deadliest massacre in the Indian state of Punjab.

At the end of a 3 day tour of the country, Cameron described the incident as 'deeply shameful' which saw hundreds of people shot dead at a public gathering by British troops back in 1919.

"We want that the British Prime Minister should apologize to the families of those who were killed in the Jallianwala Bagh massacre as lot of innocent people were killed by the bullets."

Despite the colonial authorities having banned public meetings at the time, the event is seen as one of the bloodiest massacres in British history.

Despite further calls from the families of the massacre victims, Cameron isn't expected to formally apologize for the incident.
