A Compass Airlines flight heading to Houston, the largest city of the U.S. Texas state, encountered turbulence on Monday afternoon, injuring several passengers.

The aircraft, an Embraer 175 with 76 passengers and four crew members onboard, took off from New York's LaGuardia airport and made an emergency landing in the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, local daily The Houston Chronicle reported.

Eleven people, including two flight attendants, reportedly felt sick after their plane hit an air current. Firefighters rushed to the airport in Houston and paramedics met the plane, which landed safely around 3 p.m. local time.

In another incident, two passengers were detained in Houston on Monday after a disturbance was reported on a United Airlines plane while en route to the George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

The airlines confirmed the incident, saying that the two were detained after the plane, which was en route to Houston from Washington, D.C., landed.?
