Visiting senior leader of the Communist Party of China (CPC) He Guoqiang called on China and Malaysia to further enhance political mutual trust and boost economic and trade ties as he met with Malaysian Prime Minister Nazib Tun Razak Friday afternoon.

He Guoqiang spoke highly of the Nazib family's contribution to the development of the China-Malaysia relations, extending Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao's greetings to Nazib, who is also the president of the ruling United Malays National Organization (UMNO), and his to Nazib's mother.

Applauding the robust growth of the bilateral relations in the past 38 years especially since the establishment of the bilateral strategic cooperation in 2004, He said the two sides have scored remarkable achievements in political mutual trust and economic and trade cooperation.

Malaysia is China's biggest trading partner among ASEAN member states and the trade volume between the two nations has exceeded 9 million U.S. dollars last year, He said, noting such bilateral cooperation also forged in political, economic, humanitarian, scientific and technological, educational, cultural and tourism fields.

The relations between China and Malaysia as well as the relations between the CPC and the UMNO have been in their best forms, He told Nazib, calling on the Malaysian side to make joint efforts with China to increase political mutual trust and advance reciprocal cooperation.

Agreeing with He's views, Nazib said He's visit is a significant one for the enhancement of ties between the two nations and the two parties.

The fast-growing Malaysia-China relations are founded on a basis of mutual respect, mutual trust and a long-term friendship, Nazib said, expressing his confidence in the future development of the cooperation between the two nations as well as the two parties.

After the meeting, the two leaders witnessed the signing of the establishment of an industrial park. He also visited a Confucius Institute in the University of Malaya prior to the meeting.

Visiting as an UMNO guest, He arrived in the Malaysian capital on Thursday. Malaysia is the third leg of He's four-nation tour after he concluded his visits to Laos and Cambodia. The trip will also take him to Russia.
