Air Canada plane makes emergency landing

A Japan-bound Air Canada passenger plane made an emergency landing?in Toronto?Monday afternoon, while no one was injured during the accident, local police said.
The flight carried 318 passengers and was heading to Narita, Japan. It took off from Pearson International Airport around 2:10 p.m. local time(1810 GMT) and flew back to the airport for the emergency landing at around 4 p.m.(2000 GMT).
According to local press, witnesses saw smoke coming from the plane shortly after it took off.
Residents in Mississauga, where the airport is located, called police around the time of the accident, saying chunks of metal falling from the sky damaged their cars.
Air Canada has not confirmed whether the flying debris originated from the plane.
"There have been reports of debris, but I don't have any confirmation at this time," Air Canada spokesperson Peter Fitzpatrick told the National Post.
"There will be a full investigation and we'll be able to determine then what happened."
