Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said?in Jakarta?Friday that he hoped to discuss with Chinese leaders the future development of bilateral relations and further boost the strategic cooperation between the two emerging countries through his China visit later this month.

Yudhoyono made the remarks at the presidential palace when receiving the letter of credentials from the new Chinese Ambassador Liu Jianchao, who replaces the previous ambassador Zhang Qiyue.

Yudhoyono spoke highly of the sound momentum of bilateral relations and said Indonesia would work with China to strengthen their mutual beneficial cooperation and build a world of peace, stability and development.

Bilateral relations have developed fast since China and Indonesia established strategic partnership in 2005, and the two countries are now important players in regional and international affairs, Liu said.

"China attaches great importance to relations with Indonesia and looks forward to President Yudhoyono's visit to China," he said.

Liu arrived in Jakarta on Wednesday. He worked as the Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines for the past three years and is a former spokesman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
