Senior official Li Changchun on Thursday pledged to boost closer party-to-party relations with Vietnam and boost exchanges of party-building experience.

Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remark while meeting with To Huy Rua, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC).

Hailing the sound momentum of China-Vietnam relations, Li said the general-secretaries of the two parties reached an important consensus after meeting last year, agreeing to deepen political mutual trust and properly settle disputes in order to facilitate the stable and healthy growth of bilateral ties.

The consensus was reached in a meeting between Hu Jintao, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, and Vietnamese Party General-Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong during Trong's October 2011 China visit.

"China is ready to make joint efforts with Vietnam to deepen all-around cooperation and promote greater development in our comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation," Li said.

Li said strengthening party-building exchanges is an important part of party-to-party exchanges, adding the CPC will make joint efforts with the Communist Party of Vietnam to implement a cooperative plan between the two ruling parties.

To Huy Rua, also secretary of the CPVCC Secretariat and head of the CPVCC's Commission for Organization, spoke positively of China's great achievements in economic and social development.

Referring to the two countries as "friendly neighbors," Rua said Vietnam-China relations have withstood the test of time.

He hailed the current growth momentum of bilateral ties, citing frequent high-level visits, fruitful trade cooperation and enhanced party-to-party exchanges.

Vietnam hopes to work closely with China to jointly address global challenges and boost relations between both countries and parties, Rua said.

To Huy Rua is visiting China at the invitation of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.
