U.S. President Barack Obama told a solemn press conference on May 1 that a U.S. operation had killed Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad, Pakistan. The former al-Qaida leader is believed to be mastermind of the 9/11 attacks in 2001 and was on the FBI's most wanted list for the bombings of the U.S. embassies in Tanzania, Nairobi and Kenya. Bin Laden's death marked a victory in the U.S-led war on terror. However, the global fight against terrorism still has a long way to go.
