30 insurgents killed, 7 detained in Afghanistan

Afghan forces, backed by NATO-led coalition troops, have eliminated 30 insurgents and detained seven others during operations over the last 24 hours, the country's Interior Ministry said on Sunday morning.
"Afghan National Police (ANP), Afghan National Army and Coalition Forces launched 11 joint operations in Nangarhar, Baghlan, Kandahar, Nimroz, Zabul, Paktia, Ghazni, Herat and Farah provinces over the past 24 hours," the ministry said in a press release.
"As a result of these operations, 30 armed insurgents were killed and seven others were arrested," it said, adding joint force also found and seized a handful of weapons besides defusing 10 anti-vehicle mines in the above operations.
However, it did not say whether any security forces were injured in the operations.
Afghan officials often use the word "insurgents" referring to Taliban. However, the insurgent group, who launched in May this year a rebel offensive against Afghan and NATO forces, has not make comments yet.
