Iran's judiciary ordered on Wednesday to release two detained U.S. hikers, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.

Lawyer of the two U.S. nationals who have been held in Iran on spying charges and illegal entry to the country since 2009 announced the judicial order for the release of the two U.S. nationals.

The judge of Branch 36 of the appeal court issued the decree for the release of the two Americans on 500,000 U.S. dollars bail each, Masoud Shafiee was quoted as saying.

The three U.S. nationals, Sarah Shourd, Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal were arrested in Iran on July 31, 2009 for illegally entering Iran's western border and were later charged with espionage. The U.S. government considered the charges totally unfounded.

The female hiker Sarah Shourd, once jailed in Iran with the other two Americans, was released by Tehran's prosecutor in September 2010 on a bail of 500,000 dollars due to her health situation.
