Taliban kidnaps 30 Pakistani children in Afghanistan

The Pakistani Taliban has claimed the responsibility for kidnapping some 30 Pakistani children after they mistakenly crossed into Afghanistan from Pakistan's northwestern tribal area of Bajaur Agency on Friday, local Urdu TV channel Geo reported on Saturday.
Some 30 Pakistani children aged between 12 to 18 were abducted by militants of the Pakistani Taliban hiding on the Afghan side along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border area after the children got lost on their way for a picnic, according to the report.
Pakistani interior minister Rehman Malik has contacted his Afghan counterpart for the release of the kidnapped children.
So far none of the kidnapped children have been released.
It is not known what has happened to the children held hostage by the Pakistani Taliban militants. Some local reports speculated that the Pakistani Taliban might train the kidnapped children to be future suicide bombers.
Many of the suicide bombers in Pakistan were teenagers. Recently, the Pakistani police killed a 14-year-old boy in the country's northwest city of Peshawar while he was on the way to carry out a suicide bomb attack. Prior to this, an 11-year-old girl came to police for help after she refused to commit a suicide blast in Peshawar under the threat of the Pakistani Taliban.
