Egyptian authorities say the trial of ousted Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak is going to be aired live on Egyptian television.

Mubarak and a host of others are being accused of ordering the killing of protesters during the demonstrations which eventually led to his ouster.

Ahmed Refaat is the head of Cairo's criminal court.

"First of all, with the trust imbued in the body of this court, it is of the right of the people to follow and witness the events of the trial. And for that reason this distinguished body will allow access to cameras from Egypt TV only. They will broadcast the proceedings of the trial and the sentencing in both court cases, live, on air."

Hospital officials say Mubarak's psychological makeup is deteriorating.

He's refusing to eat ahead of his trial, which is due to start on Wednesday.

Judicial sources are suggesting that Mubarak's lawyers may ask to have the trial moved from Cairo to Sharm-el-Sheik, where the 83-year old is currently hospitalized.

If Mubarak is convicted, he could face the death penalty.
